Description | In-depth study and applications of polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic functions, and systems of equations using matrices. Additional topics such as sequences, series, probability, and conics may be included. This is a corequisite taken only with MATH 1314 in the same semester/ part of term. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | Upon successful completion of this course, students will: 1. Define, represent, and perform operations on real and complex numbers. 2. Recognize, understand, and analyze features of a function. 3. Recognize and use algebraic (field) properties, concepts, procedures (including factoring), and algorithms to combine, transform, and evaluate absolute value, polynomial, radical, and rational expressions. 4. Identify and solve absolute value, polynomial, radical, and rational equations. 5. Identify and solve absolute value and linear inequalities. 6. Model, interpret and justify mathematical ideas and concepts using multiple representations. 7. Connect and use multiple strands of mathematics in situations and problems, as well as in the study of other disciplines | ||||||||

Attendance Policy | Research has shown a cause-and-effect relationship between attendance and college success. Students with more than three absences from the course will receive an academic penalty (which is spelled out by the instructor). While there are no makeup tests or make up assignments, students will be allowed to drop their lowest grade for one missed test and one missed assignment. If a student misses more than one assignment or test, the student will receive a zero for that assignment or test. Please ask questions if necessary. | ||||||||
